Billboards at the Edge of Town
The photo above shows a superb billboard displayed by Dickson County Right to Life. U.S. HWY 70 passes through Dickson, Tennessee, and doubles as a major east-west artery through Dickson (population 16,000). For several years, Dickson RTL has capitalized on its travel layout with billboard messages that reach “neighbors” beyond their city and beyond their state. FYI, U.S. HWY 70 runs between Atlantic, North Carolina and Globe, Arizona. There are thousands of towns and cities in America with the “Dickson opportunity” to touch hearts and minds with Billboards at the Edge of Town.
The abortion battle is nationwide. Are there public square outreach opportunities for towns of 2,000 to 20,000? Of course. One is pro-life Billboards at the Edge of Town. The impact is turbocharged if your “main street” coincides with a highway running through your hometown.
The Dickson billboard is a moderate size common for small cities. Costs can plummet with a makeshift billboard on the property of a pro-life resident, farmer, or rancher. One or two 4x8 sheets of plywood can make a visible billboard and avoid monthly rental cost. Locations a mile or two or more beyond the edge of town will work just fine.
Will your pro-life group or church group step out for a billboard at the edge of your city? Many cities, like Dickson, Tennessee, have done so well, communicating to the vast number of travelers -- hour to hour, day to day, week to week…. What an opportunity! So many more cities have untapped opportunities.
Pro-Life in the Public Square would love to collaborate with you. Our local outreach organization, Pro-Life Waco, has displayed dozens of billboards over the last three decades. We can advise you on sign messages and sign designs. If this is a new venture for your city, PLPS will happily consider a grant to your start-up fund.
